The Editor The Anguillian Dear Sir: COST OF LIVING TOO HIGH Anguilla is still perhaps in its embryonic stages of development, but I find it is a very expensive island to live in. The salaries and wages being paid in the public and private sectors cannot measure up to the increased cost of basic food items and various services. The latest increase in telephone and other telecommunications services only add to the growing hardship confronting the people of the island. There is a need to increase the take home pay of workers, but at the same time one wonders how this could be possible when the economy is in shambles.
