On behalf of the AACA we extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Lake for his very generous contributions that enabled our youngsters to represent Anguilla and gain the exposure and experience that participation in an event of this caliber provided.

Some eleven countries were represented Anguilla was represented by 6 of our youngsters 3 juniors and 3 juveniles, who in their outstanding efforts, made Anguilla proud.
Countries represented at the event were Anguilla, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Curacao, Guyana, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago and the US Virgin Islands. Our youngsters made us extremely proud of their performance despite being involved in unfortunate crashes which they sustained cuts and bruises. However their courage and determination was demonstrated for all to witness in the way they continued their races, casting aside the pain from their cuts and bruises to place among the top ten in both categories.
The races were spectacular, they were extremely competitive to the end and our boys rose to the occasion, chasing down the leaders after the crash, caught up with them and finished the race in a commanding sprint to the finish!
In the junior competition Anguilla youngsters placed among the top twenty (20) competitors with Elroy Laud finishing 9th. In the juvenile category Anguilla youngsters once again finished in the top twenty (20) of the thirty (30) competitors. Ricardo Romney finished 4th, followed by Rockeem Romney and Delon Richardson.
It is important to note that there were also female categories in the events. For this reason the AACA is appealing to our potential female cyclists; junior, juvenile and senior not to give up cycling. There is lots of hope, opportunity and excitement in the sport of cycling and female cyclists have equal chance of reward and the same outstanding opportunities afforded to their male counterparts. To all those interested please contact George Lake @ tell # 584 4675, Derick Carty @ tell # 235 7736 & Miguel Leverette @ tell 476 6168 or any of the club representatives that you may desire.
Performances like this cement our vision of a better Anguilla through cycling. The significance of the achievements of these youngsters should not be undermined or overlooked as they demonstrate the power of cycling to uplift the island of Anguilla with the support of a few generous and conscientious persons. We at the AACA are therefore asking everyone: Government and private sector alike, to actively participate in events like this by contributing meaningfully to the cause of developing our young riders to the level of world class cyclist. It is easy to be proud of the accomplishments of our youth when they perform well, therefore let it be similarly easy, through your contributions, to continue to give them the chance to make Anguilla proud.
