Cross section of Probation Staff at Church Service at the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday
|
Officers were in attendance on Saturday at the Mount Fortune Seventh Day Adventist Church.
During the service, Acting Chief Probation Officer, Mrs. Marilyn Hodge, spoke briefly to the congregation regarding the role and mandate of the Department. She noted that the mission of the Department was to assist the Court by providing offenders with the opportunity to make positive behavioural changes. "This is an effort to rehabilitate and reintegrate individuals under the Department's supervision thereby promoting and enhancing the safety and security of the Anguillian community," Mrs. Hodge continued.
She added that working at the Department of Probation was not an easy job, and one that was often under-recognised by the wider community. She praised the tireless efforts of Chief Probation Officer Mrs. Jocelyn Johnson Carty and Senior Probation Officer Juvenile Mrs. Christine Brooks Morancie in moving the Department forward from its inception to where it was today. She also presented both officers with Certificates of Appreciation from the Department of Probation and Ministry of Social Development.
Mrs. Hodge was especially appreciative of the invaluable role which 'Key Stakeholders' and 'Community Placement Sites' play in helping the Probation Department to carry forth its mandate in the rehabilitation process of the probationers. She also thanked the wider community for the continued support provided to the Department.
Activities continued this week with talks in schools and a staff development day.
