Police Report: CRIMES CONTINUE TO BE LOW High Court, Magistrate Court Cases |

There continues to be much relief among the Police in that the number of crimes committed during the period May 26 to June 2, is again very low, according to figures released by Inspector Emris Rogers. There were only three crimes recorded for that period.

Two were thefts at Long Path and Blowing Point. The items stolen were a machete and jewelry.
There was one burglary at West End, where a laptop computer was stolen.
Eight arrests were recorded during the period: three males for theft; one male for being armed with an offensive weapon; one to prevent a breach of the peace; another male was arrested for handling stolen goods and yet another on a warrant in the first instance. One female was arrested on a default warrant.
There were six minor traffic accidents.
The Police Report was combined with the sentences of a number of persons by the High Court and the Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 1, for various offences. The names of several of those persons were not released by the latter Court. Jennifer Mussington of South Hill pleaded guilty before High Court Judge, Justice Louise Blenman, on one count of robbery. She was given a prison term of two years.
Juan Carlos Cabrera, also of South Hill, pleaded guilty on one count of robbery. He was sentenced to four years in jail.
Vernon Webster of East End, pleaded guilty on three counts of robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment on the first count; two years on the second count and one year on the third count, all sentences to run concurrently.
The three cases were in relation to a robbery last year at Christine’s in Long Bay.
In a separate matter in the High Court, Lisandro Samuel, of South Hill, pleaded guilty on four counts of burglary. He was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment on two counts; five years on one count and two years on another count, all sentences to run concurrently.
In the Magistrate Court, E.W. of Blowing Point pleaded guilty of driving without due care and attention and was fined $3,000. J.R. of West End and J.F. of North Valley also pleaded guilty of similar offences and were fined $2,000 each.
T.L. of East End pleaded guilty of failing to give his correct name and address to the Police in the Magistrate Court and was fined $250.
C.G. of South Hill pleaded guilty of driving without due care and attention and was fined $2,000. He was also fined $5,000 for not being covered by a policy of insurance; $1,500 for driving an unlicensed vehicle and another $1,500 for taking a conveyance.
