Morris Vanterpool School Wins Netball Competition |

The two-week Primary School Netball Competition, sponsored by the Anguilla Electricity Company (ANGLEC), ended at the Ronald Webster Park on May 8, with the Morris Vanterpool School team emerging winner. That school was also adjudged as having the most disciplined team. In second place was Central Christian School and third, Valley Primary School. They all received trophies.

The most improved team was the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School. The most valuable players were Tiana Richardson of the Alvin Allison School at West End; Statiesha Crawford of the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School; Amber Rogers of the Orealia Kelly Primary School; Ivana Webster of Vivien Vanterpool School; Arielle Gaskin of the Morris Vanterpool School; Artesha Richardson of Valley Schoool; and Mikiah Harrigan of Central Christian School.

They were presented with trophies while all the others who played in the competition received participation ribbons.

Arielle Gaskin, who was the overall most valuable player, was also the best defender. Best shooter was Amelique Hodge and the best centre court player was Shanecia Perisa.

President of the Netball Association, Nadia Linton, thanked ANGLEC for sponsoring the competition, now in its second year; the coaches for their hard in preparing the teams and the participating schools, and congratulated the winners. She was pleased with the competition, saying it was a great show of effort.

Vice President, Collyana Ritchie, said netball was a growing sport in Anguilla. She encouraged more young people to become involved in it, stating that the association had started out with the primary schools as part of its mission to extend the sport to other youth on the island.
