Within days of the election to office of the Anguilla United Movement Government, the Hon. Edison Baird, Member for Road North, was appointed to serve as Acting Chief Minister by His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Alistair Harrison.

Mr. Baird’s appointment was dated February 22 until the Chief Minister, the Hon. Hubert Hughes, returned to Anguilla. The Governor acted on the advice of Mr. Hughes in accordance with the Constitution.

Mr. Hughes returned to Anguilla during the week, well in time for the swearing in ceremony at the House of Assembly, arranged for Friday afternoon, commencing at 2 o’clock.
