Thirteen officers from Her Majesty’s Prison Service in Anguilla, Montserrat and the Turks & Caicos Islands are participating in a one-week Middle Management Course being held at the Community College Development Unit.

Prison Officers and Course Facilitators

The course, funded by the United Kingdom Government, was organised to equip the officers with the knowledge and ability to effectively carry out the day-to-day operational and supervisory roles in the Prison Service.

The subject areas covered by the course include leadership roles and responsibility, first line management, staff appraisal systems, improving staff performance, empowering and delegation, interviewing and communication skills, incidence management and investigation procedures.

Tutors for the course are Mr. Steve Fradley, British Overseas Territories Prison Advisor; Mr. Vincent Walker, Local Prison Consultant; Mr. Adrian Northwest, Head of the Training College at H. M. Prison at Wornsworth in the United Kingdom; and Mr. Allister Richardson, Staff Development Officer, H. M. Prison, Anguilla.
