Police Report: Three Robberies under Investigation |

Police in Anguilla are investigating three robberies between February 11 and 16. The first was on Thursday, February 11 at a night club in the Farrington area. Police were told that two masked men, one carrying a firearm, and the other a knife, held up the owner and customers and robbed them of money and jewelry.

The second robbery occurred on Saturday, February 13 at a restaurant at South Hill. It was also reported to the Police that two masked men, one armed with a firearm and the other with a machete, entered the restaurant from the back. One of the employees ran and a shot was subsequently discharged, but no one was injured.
Another employee was attacked and struck several times on his head and shoulder by the robber with the machete. He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he received treatment. He was later flown to Trinidad for further treatment.
The third burglary took place on Tuesday, February 16 at Island Harbour. Police were informed that two masked men with firearms had broken into a private house. It was reported that the victim locked himself into a room for protection. The robbers broke into another room, but found no one there. They fled the scene before the Police arrived.
No arrests have been made. The Police are continuing their investigations and appealing to the public for any available information regarding the three robberies.
Three other robberies were reported at Island Harbour, South Hill and Stoney Ground where the stolen items included television sets and snacks.
Those criminal activities were among nine crimes committed in Anguilla during the period February 10 – 17. There were four reports of theft in The Valley, Welches, George Hill and Cauls Bottom. Among the stolen items were a BlackBerry Bold cellular phone case, a cell phone, water tank, water pump and money.
There were eleven arrests during the period. Four males were arrested on suspicion of taking a conveyance; four others to prevent a breach of the peace; two on suspicion of robbery and one for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Ten traffic accidents were reported, two involved minor injuries. The Police Report was compiled by Inspector Emris Rogers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
