New Home For The Elderly Opened |

A new home offering caring services for the elderly has been officially opened in Anguillla, the third such facility on the island. It is Rose Woods Centre Ltd., located at White Ground, Sandy Hill.
The home, which is to become fully-operational by next month, had its ceremonial opening on Sunday, February 7. The ceremony was attended by a large number of invited guests including residents in the surrounding areas.

Among them were Chief Minister and current Elected Representative of District 1, the Hon. Osbourne Fleming, and the Hon. Evans Rogers, Minister of Social Development, both of whom congratulated the owners of the facility, Mrs. Rose Melonie Woods and her husband who reside in St. Maarten, and the Board of Directors.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the Permanent Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Foster Rogers, who welcome the guests. The dedicatory thoughts and blessing were by Pastor Virgin Sams of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Those who cut the ribbon were the Hon. Evans Rogers, Nurse Lynette Rogers and Sandra Sargeant-Woods, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woods.
Rose Woods Centre will be under the direction of retired Community Nurse with the Health Authority of Anguilla, Lynette Rogers who, among her qualifications, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Rogers described the home as “a place where one can spend their latter days of life in a relaxed, loving and warm atmosphere.” She said that for her it was the fulfillment of a dream to have a caring facility for the elderly and she was even more delighted now to have been offered the position to organise and direct its running.
The home will provide accommodation for 14 residents and 6 day care persons. In addition to the personal caring and attention they will receive, the elderly residents will have access to a medical doctor in the event that they need special care or in cases of emergencies.

The new home boasts an array of semi-private rooms which family members can personalize with cherish mementos; a dining room where healthy and delicious meals will be served restaurant-style; new and exciting opportunities to learn; wellness activities and programmes to help build meaningful friendships, and allow freedom of choice and participation.
“Rose Woods Centre Ltd. is a company dedicated to providing quality care to the residents who will be part of our family,” the information brochure stated. “The centre will provide day-care and long-term care to the elderly. We look forward to meeting the changing needs of each resident in a Christ-centered atmosphere…We are committed to a philosophy of compassionate care that maintains human dignity, where patient care is foremost.”
The Board of Directors comprises Mrs. Rose Melonie Woods, Mr. Reuben Woods, Mrs. Sandra Sargeant-Woods, Dr. Marcel Sargeant and Nurse Lynette Rogers.
