A press release from the Governor’s Office stated that the Governor acted under section 63 of the Anguilla Constitution following consultations with Chief Minister, Osbourne Fleming on Tuesday, January 5 when Mr. Fleming requested the dissolution. The Chief Minister first made the announcement in the House of Assembly that the time had come for the House to be dissolved. He announced the date for the general election at a public meeting held by the United Front Party at Blowing Point on Tuesday night.
