100 Pound Blue Marlin Caught On Sunday December 27, By, Guess Who? |

Patrick Webster continues the Anguilla fishing season with a spectacular Blue Marlin, caught in relatively shallow water, along with another small Wahoo. This fish does not compare in size to the much larger, 840 Blue Marlin caught last year but nevertheless makes for a very good fishing day. This particular fish proved little match for the dynamically experienced Patrick, who at first thought he had hooked a large Wahoo.

Soon, after hooking the fish, he realized that the strong animal was a Marlin, as it exhibited the classic head shaking and powerful pulls typical of the species. Masterfully, Patrick fought the fish without consternation and methodically gauged the reel drag and completed the wrap-up in twenty minutes. The technique is to make the fish fight for every inch of line when either pulling out or wrapping-up the line.
News of the “in-the-boat” Marlin fish reached Island Harbour, and a crowd had gathered on the pier before Patrick reached back. This village throng gathered to admire the fisherman and fish to their great satisfaction.

The timely purpose of this fish catch was to meet the peak-season tourism demand for fresh seafood. In this particular case, Patrick had also rigged for deep-water snappers. Numerous snappers and the Wahoo were sold to Barrel Stay on Sandy Ground, as Graham Belcher, the proprietor and Chef, successfully caters to his fresh fish aficionados. The spectacular Blue Marlin was sold to the elegant CuisinArt Resort and Spa that is also enjoying a full house this season.
