The Honourable Chief Minister of Anguilla, Mr. Osbourne Fleming, signed seven Tax Information Exchange Agreements while he was in Europe on the 11th and 14th of December 2009. Mr. Fleming signed the first of these TIEA’s with the Government of New Zealand at their High Commission in London on December 11, 2009.

He then travelled to France on December 14th to sign six TIEA’s with six of the seven countries also known as the Nordic Alliance. These countries are Iceland, the Faroes, and Greenland, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway. The signing took place at the Norwegian Embassy in Paris, France.

With the signing of these agreements, Anguilla has now signed a total of eleven TIEA’s and is one short of the number required to be removed from a grey list compiled by the OECD countries in April of this year. The Government of Anguilla has already negotiated TIEA’s with Canada, Germany and Australia and is awaiting an invitation from these countries to sign. It is expected that the three TIEA’s will be signed early in the New Year.
