FESTIVAL OF CHOIRS AT BETHEL |

The roof of Bethel Methodist Church at South Hill reverberated but remained intact as choir after choir, six in all, plus other groups and the congregation in general, burst forth in lively Christmas hymns in what was termed a Festival of Choirs on Sunday, December 21.

The six choirs represented the six congregations which comprise the Anguilla Methodist Circuit headed by the Reverend Dr. H. Clifton Niles, Superintendent Minister, along with Reverend Careen White, a number of Supernumerary Ministers, Circuit Stewards and Local Preachers.

The Ebenezer Choir
|
The singing groups, in order of performance, during the first section of the Festival of Choirs were as follows: The Ebenezer Church Choir in The Valley, along with the Youth Choir, with Ev’rybody’s Talking ‘Bout The Baby Boy; a duet, Wonderful, sung by Hulda Richardson and Iris Hodge, and All My Heart This Night Rejoices by a Male Quartet plus one;

The Sandy Ground Church Choir singing The King Of Kings and Peace On Earth and Immanuel Church Choir at West End with O Beautiful and a duet sung by Laura Richardson and Marlene Hughes.

Following the Offering, congregational hymns and instrumental music, the other appearances were by the Zion Church Choir at North Hill conducted by Reverend Dr. Niles (with his wife at the piano), with Dingdong Merrily On High and a Like a Couple; The Maranatha Church Choir at Blowing Point with Carol With Goodness; and the Bethel Church at South Hill with God For Man is Born and A Song Christmas.

In his comments, Rev. Niles commended the men of Ebenezer for their singing. He hoped it was the beginning of a new chapter not only at that Church but at the other Methodist Churches where there was an absence of male group singing. “Thanks to all the choirs and the congregations for coming.
