The advice was given by Deputy Commissioner Rudolph Proctor and Inspector Paul Sinclair as they addressed the media on Wednesday, December 23. The top lawmen said that extra policing services were being provided especially during the festive season with a greater police presence in various parts of the island.

Their requirements include that all persons should conduct themselves in an orderly manner, no drunk or reckless driving, no sound amplification without police permission; and that persons arriving on the island at the ports of entry should have proper checks at Customs and Immigration desks.

Inspector Emris Rogers delivered the regular police report. It showed that 12 crimes were committed during December 16-23. Among them were 6 burglaries at West End, South Hill, The Valley, The Quarter, The Farrington and Water Swamp. The items stolen included two ladders, two hammers, a number of CDs, a television and stereo set and a sum of money.

There were 6 theft reports in Stoney Ground, The Valley, Sea Feathers, Blowing Point, East End and Long Ground. The items stolen included a bicycle, two cellular phones, a gold chain, a sheet of plywood and business documents.

Seven arrests were made during the period. Three males were arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, for assault and for taking a conveyance respectively. Four males were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm arising out of a fighting incident at Sandy Ground.

There were 14 minor traffic accidents.
