Newcomer to the political scene in Anguilla, Sam Webster, is making his voice heard when it comes to the national interest and the welfare of the people of the island.
The young and upcoming candidate of the Anguilla United Movement is contesting the 2010 general election for District 1 (Island Harbour) where there are six candidates in all, the largest number ever.

At a recent public meeting of his party, Mr. Webster lamented that there was a need for social reconstruction in Anguilla where nationals have greater opportunities in business investment and employment, where there is a minimum wage structure and more sporting opportunities among other things.
He wondered when there would be such proper sporting facilities as a modern indoor Basketball court; when the comprehensive school system would be expanded to include such trades as block-laying, tiling, plumbing, electrical studies and even modern fishing techniques.
Mr. Webster called for the involvement of the people in nation-building: “Development means nothing without us – the people of Anguilla,” he stressed. “In nation-building, we must have pride in our people and this is of paramount importance…No longer should we have to compete with Indians for a tiling job, Mexicans for a plumbing job or Chinese for a carpentry job when development comes to our shores..”
The Anguilla United Movement candidate encouraged the electorate to support his party, whose election symbol is the Tree. “Its roots are for integrity, the trunk is for stability and its branches are for prosperity,” he stated.
