“I want to thank the Government of Anguilla for its herculean efforts in encouraging Cap Juluca and Flag to reach a successful conclusion to finalizing a management agreement for the Temenos Golf Course this winter. While our interim agreement with Flag runs only through June 30, 2010, Cap Juluca is thrilled to be able to offer residents and visitors to Anguilla this winter the opportunity to play golf on one of the Caribbean’s best golf courses,” Aron said.

“In appreciation for all the support we have received locally, we will be setting the golf tee time price for Anguillian citizens and belongers to US$99. We are also lowering the general greens fees for visitors to Anguilla to a price of US$225, down almost half from previous prices charged off-island visitors to Anguilla at the Temenos Golf Course. We believe this more affordable greens fee price has the possibility of stimulating additional occupancy at Cap Juluca and overall tourism visits to all of Anguilla this winter. We invite all members of the Anguillian lodging community to actively embrace the Temenos Golf Course this winter, as your guests will be most welcome to play at Temenos under Cap Juluca’s management. Getting more golfers to visit Anguilla this winter means more tourism dollars for everyone,” continued Aron.

Commenting on the golf course re-opening, Minister of Finance, Economic Development, Investments and Tourism Victor Banks said, “A world class golf course is an important tourist amenity for Anguilla, and when open for play one which will certainly increase the number of visitors to Anguilla. This will translate to more business opportunities for all the many businesses of Anguilla that rely on the luxury tourism sector. The entire lodging community will benefit from the Temenos Golf Course being playable this winter, as will so many restaurants, taxi drivers and shops. Government must applaud Cap Juluca and the principals of Flag for responding to our request that the golf course re-open this winter. We appreciate the investment that both organizations (Cap Juluca and Flag) have expended to make this happen. No doubt, they face a considerable financial risk in operating the golf course for the benefit of all stakeholders in the industry as well as visitors to Anguilla.”
