Tackle Box, the well-known sports and fitness store next to English Rose Restaurant, in The Valley, was hit during the night of Sunday August 23 or pre-dawn morning. When The Anguillian arrived on the scene on Monday morning members of the Royal Anguilla Police Force were present investigating the matter with the store’s Owner/Director Roland Webster, Manager Louise Webster and members of staff.
According to Mr. Webster, the bandits made off with at least two cameras worth US$440, a computerized cash register valued at around US$600 and a coin pan that contained the key for the store’s van. The outlaws also bailed with over US$6000 worth of high fidelity car stereo equipment. Webster stated that the register had a few hundred EC dollars in it.

Burglars' entry point

The Anguillian observe Webster and Richardson walk to the back of the store: It opened into a narrow, dead-end alley-way facing the steps of the El Rancho Building. Two iron gates (one on each side of the wooden door) protected the back door to the store. Each gate, Richardson said, carried its own padlock. None of the two locks were recovered. (An old lock sawn off from a previous break in was the only security device that remained). A number of security lights had been either broken or unscrewed.
Richardson explained that the thieves must have cut both locks. She believed they went with them to avoid them being used as evidence.
Meanwhile Police were continuing investigations into the matter.
