Anguilla Celebrates 25 Years Of Tourism In 2003 |

The Anguilla Tourist Board, in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and the Anguilla Hotel & Tourism Association will be observing 25 Years of Tourism this year starting from February 2003.

In honour of this occasion, a Tourism Year committee has been convened under the chairmanship of Director of Tourism, Mrs Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch. Highlights of the activities for the year include a National Day of Thanksgiving in all Churches of the island on February 1st and 2nd during which a message from the Honourable Chief Minister will also be read; a Reception to be hosted by the Honourable Chief Minister to announce the formalisation of the Anguilla Marketing Alliance and the Development Program for 2003, including Human Resource, Product Enhancement and Marketing Initiatives; the dedication of the new Anguilla Tourist Board Offices in March, the launch of an island-wide Hospitality Training Initiative in June; and a competition to obtain the theme for the annual Tourism Week of Activities scheduled for November 2003.
To further create awareness as to the role, contribution and opportunities of the Tourism Industry to Anguilla, Non-governmental and other Civic groups have been invited to focus on the linkages between Tourism and key events and activities in which their various organizations engage. Other public awareness initiatives will also be implemented throughout the year to raise awareness of the importance to our island of Anguilla’s major industry.
