The training was arranged by the Department of Public Administration which is cognizant of the need to continually train and develop employees in order to ensure that they possess the requisite knowledge, skills and behaviours to carry out their job functions.
The training session, on June 17 and 18, at the Teachers’ Resource Centre, covered a number of topics including How Government Works, Need and Benefits of Social Security, Training, Compensation, Expectations of Public Officers, General Orders, Public Service Regulations (and their relevance to public officers) and Pension Benefits.

It was expected that following their training the officers would have the knowledge needed to assist in their effective integration into the Anguilla Public Service. Secondly, they would have been provided with the essential information regarding the operations, policies and procedures of the Anguilla Public Service.

The facilitators for the training were Deputy Governor, Stanley Reid; Permanent Secretary, Aurjul Wilson; Director of Human Resource Management, Lana Horsford-Harrigan, Deputy Directors Valarie Hodge and Charmaine Rogers, and Patricia Macdonna, Accountant General.

There were also presentations from Social Security, represented by Paulita Bryson and Elkin Richardson; and the Anguilla Teachers’ Union, represented by Emma Ferguson, its President.

It is anticipated that the induction training will be an ongoing exercise as there are continued efforts to foster positive work ethics for the advancement of the Anguilla Public Service.
