The Valley, Anguilla, April 20, 2009 – Scotiabank’s new contest for ScotiaCard Visa Debit cardholders is turning every purchase into a winning opportunity. From now until June 30, 2009, cardholders have the chance to win the amount of their purchases, up to EC$3000. The ScotiaCard Visa Debit allows customers to shop anywhere Visa is accepted at home or abroad with a single debit card.

“The ScotiaCard Visa Debit is a safe and convenient card to use when shopping, and provides customers with the convenience of doing their banking and shopping with a single card,” said Scotiabank Manager, Personal Banking , Andrew Niles. “The ScotiaCard Visa Debit is a great way to safely spend only the money that is in your account, without carrying cash or cheques. During the contest, each time a customer makes a minimum purchase of EC$30 with their ScotiaCard, they are automatically entered into the contest. Purchases must be posted between April 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009. The grand prize winner will be randomly selected on August 1, 2009, and notified by telephone. Customers can use their ScotiaCard Visa Debit to access bank accounts at Scotiabank’s branches and automated teller machines (ATMs) as well as any ATM displaying the Plus or Visa symbol. They also have access to over 900,000 Visa/Plus branded bank machines worldwide, and will be able to shop at 14 million locations anywhere in the world where Visa is accepted – either face-to-face, online, or at mail and telephone order merchants.

With the ScotiaCard Visa Debit, cardholders have the benefits of Visa fraud protection as well as Scotiabank’s rigorous fraud monitoring and management systems. In addition, cardholders have the option of purchasing ScotiaCard Protect to insure items bought with their debit cards. ScotiaCard Protect offers protection from theft or damage and extends travel accident insurance for travel tickets purchased with ScotiaCard Visa Debit.
