Police Report: Car Crash, Thefts, Investigations Into Death


Man arrested after stabbing
A stabbing highlighted this week’s police report and a man was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Police Inspector Emris Rogers, of the Criminal Investigation Department, said that about 6:20 pm on Sunday April 26, police responded to a report of a stabbing incident in Island Harbour. Griffin Lake, of Island Harbour, was later admitted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a stab wound. He said after further investigation, Adrian Charles of Cauls Bottom was arrested and charged for wounding Mr. Lake. Charles was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 and is to appear in court on May 19.

Car Crash
Police reported that on Thursday April 23 they responded to a traffic accident on the Jeremiah Gumbs Highway, and on arrival it was observed that a vehicle ran off the road and hit a pole. The driver, Sherwin Fawlin of South Hill, was arrested and slapped three charges: taking a Conveyance, driving without a licence, and not being covered by insurance. He appeared in the magistrate court on April 23 and was fined $1,600.00 which is to be paid in eight weeks.

Other criminal activities for the period April 22 to 29 comprised 11 reported Crimes of which theft headed the list.
Police said seven thefts were reported in the areas of West End, North Side, North Hill, The Valley, Little Harbour and Shoal Bay. Items stolen included a steel bender, Plywood, a cell phone, a cash pan, goats, a woman’s purse and cash.
Inspector Rogers said there were two attempted burglaries, one in Blowing Point and the other in Long Bay, as well as one case of Criminal Damage in the Forest.
Rogers said three arrests were made for the period, which comprised one male for wounding, one male for taking a conveyance, and one male for immigration purposes.

Police reported continuing investigations into the death of David Schnittlich better known as Dave or Mango Dave.
He was the owner of Mangoes Restaurant.
On Friday, April 24, police responded to a report of a man found lying in his yard who appeared to be dead. The body of Dave was eventually recovered and confirmed dead by a doctor from the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
There were 9 traffic accidents for the last week.
