The gardens will be judged on overall appearance and impact of the garden, the creativity of the garden, the use of colour and the condition and diversity of the plants. Any person can nominate his or her own garden or that of another person.
Cash prizes are being awarded to the winners with the first prize at US$200.00, second prize $150.00 and third $100.00. The winners will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Flower and Garden Show scheduled for Saturday February 28 and the awards will be presented at the closing ceremony on March 1.
This is the third year the Competition has been held in conjunction with the Flower Show. Last year’s winner was Elsie Phillips of Canifist Village who won from 14 nominees. The previous year the winner was Adele Hodge of Long Path.
The ABC sponsors the Competition as part of the club’s ongoing efforts to encourage the beautification of Anguilla by the planting of trees and shrubs and the development of home gardens. This is the tenth year of the ABC Flower and Garden Show and plans are to make it extra special so members are inviting nominations for the Garden Competition.
Nomination forms are available at the Library and Post Office.
