The presentation ceremony, chaired by Renford Kelsick, Secretary of the Anguilla Cricket Association, was held at Grillers Restaurant on Sunday evening, November 30. The awards were distributed following addresses by President of the Cricket Association, Ralph Hodge; Director of Sports, Alkins Rogers; and Cardigan Connor, Cricket Development Officer.

“Caribbean Commercial Bank has been very good to cricket,” Mr. Hodge said. “It has done a wonderful job over the years and has been very consistent in supporting Anguilla’s domestic league, and part of the sponsorship has gone towards player support. We awarded trophies and given cash awards on behalf of the Caribbean Commercial Bank.

“I want to thank my friend at Caribbean Commercial Bank, Mrs. Starry Benjamin-Webster, and also Mr. Trevor Woodley, for their gracious support to Anguilla’s cricket and I sincerely hope that this support will go way into the future. The relationship cannot be better and certainly we look forward to working very closely with Caribbean Commercial Bank to promote cricket on Anguilla in the future.”

Mr. Hodge told The Anguillian that this year’s sponsorship by CCB was worth $21,000 overall, including paying officials and other persons. “I think we were quite tight with our budgeting. I can’t say enough about Caribbean Commercial Bank in terms of thanks.

“I believe when you support sports, you are cutting down on violence, gang warfare and drugs. I think the commercial banks in Anguilla have been doing a very wonderful job, but this tournament is actually about CCB and on behalf of every member of the Cricket Association, I want to express my thanks and appreciation.”

The six teams which participated in the tournament were CuisinArt Resort & Spa (which won the competition); the Masters, The ALHCS, Police, Cap Juluca and Nature Boys (a Dominican grown team).
