GOVERNOR HELPS CHILDREN THROUGH COCKTAILS

A number of needy children in Anguilla have benefited from a plan undertaken by Governor Peter Johnstone to provide them with gifts for the Christmas season.

The Governor held a Christmas cocktail party at Government House on December 12 attended by a large number of guests from throughout the island.

The invitation was accompanied by a note which requested guests to help in the sharing of the spirit of Christmas by donating a gift for a boy or girl.
It was arranged for the gifts to be left at an appropriate place as the guests entered the gate. It is understood that eleven large plastic bags of presents were collected for distribution to the needy children through church organisations.

The guests were welcomed at Government House by the Governor, on behalf of himself and Mrs. Johnstone who thanked them for their gifts for the needy children.

The Governor and his wife were pleased to have a group from the Men’s Fellowship of the Methodist Circuit to sing a number of Christmas carols and other appropriate selections during the cocktails function.

Their presentations drew much applause from the large number of guests and contributed significantly to a most delightful evening.
