BLANCHARDS THROWS CHRISTMAS PARTY |
| Publishing date: 27.12.2002 16:15 |
Thursday December 12, the day before the closure of the West End Primary School for the Christmas holidays, the owners and staff of Blanchards Restaurant at Meads Bay threw a Christmas party for all of the children. The delicacies, fruit punch and gifts brought a great deal of merriment among the pupils and the principal and teaching staff were elated by the kind and thoughtful efforts of the contributors.

The restaurant owners, Bob and Melinda Blanchard, have been living on the island for the past 13 years and have made a significant contribution to the hospitality industry.
Commenting on the Christmas party at the West End school, Mr. Blanchard said it was very important to give back something to the community. “The kids are having fun and it is a good thing to do this before they break for the Christmas holidays,” he stated. It was also a happy time for the Blanchards and their enthusiastic staff who enjoyed being with the young children.
The gifts were distributed by “Santa Claus”, a role performed admirably by Blanchard Restaurant bartender Royston Hodge of Stoney Ground. He was an outstanding figure among the gathering as he went about his business muttering “ho-ho-ho” excessively.
“Oh yes man, the Blanchards did an excellent job with these kinds,” he commented.
Principal of the school, Pearline Hughes, was grateful for the treat. “It is a welcome gesture and I am sure that the students and staff are well pleased to have Blanchards sponsor this treat for them. We are also thankful for the gifts they have given us today. I am sure that that these things have brought cheer to the hearts of us all at this Christmas festive season.”
