SCOTIABANK PARTNERS WITH ATB ON CHRISTMAS INITIATIVE |
| Publishing date: 27.12.2002 16:10 |
Scotia Bank Anguilla this week sponsored the annual Christmas Food Basket Distribution programme which was coordinated by the staff of the Anguilla Tourist Board.
|
The Food Basket Distribution Programme, now in its 4th year, evolved from the original Christmas Extravaganza activities, and was born out of the Staff members’ wish to make a worthwhile contribution to the Anguillian community at Christmas time. Under the programme, a number of Anguilla’s underprivileged children are identified through the Welfare Department and the School system, and baskets containing a variety of food stuff, sweets and a toy are distributed in a few days of Christmas.
In speaking to the Banks’ decision to sponsor this Tourist Board initiative, Managing Director, Mr. Walter MacCalman observers that the objective of the Bank is to become involved in a project which has real meaning and value for the beneficiaries. “This project is a natural fit for us, given our commitment to the youth, and to improving the quality of life for Anguillians in a real way. We are satisfied that the monies which will be invested in this project will significantly impact on the children who will be a part of the programme.”
A cheque in the amount of EC$3,000,00 was handed over to the Tourist Board by the Managing Director in a brief ceremony at the Banks’ premises on Tuesday, December 17th, 2002. The contests of the food baskets will be purchased from JW Proctors, who will be working with the Tourist Board on this project for the 3rd consecutive year. Staff of the Anguilla Tourist Board will be engaged in the distribution of the food baskets and gifts on Monday, December 23rd, in order to ensure that the goodies are received just in time for Christmas.
