After much inquiry by the general public, the Anguilla Tennis Academy will begin its adult programmes starting next week on Monday, September 15. Although the ATA specializes in the teaching of children, it recognizes that in order for it to be truly a community effort, the adults and parents must also take part.

The ATA staffs 10 highly trained tennis professionals who are all very eager to begin teaching adult classes. The new facility in Blowing Point has six pristine new courts for the adult community and there is much planned. Adults will now also have the opportunity to not only participate but also help the ATA’s children’s programmes as their patronage directly helps fund the classes.

Adult Clinics:
These are very active and innovative sessions in which participants will be placed with others with the same ability level. There will be many drills and activities that promote proper technique in a friendly environment while at the same time getting a great workout. There will be four sessions a week. Mondays and Thursday from 6:00-7:30 pm and Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00-10:30 am. Cost is $120 per month for 8 night sessions and $90 per month for the morning sessions. (Night sessions are more expensive as the courts must be lighted.)

Adult Leagues:
Those who are interested in competitive and regular play, may form teams and compete in a league setting. Teams will play each other weekly in a friendly and social environment while enjoying the sport of tennis. Teams will have both men and women and will feature singles and doubles play. The ATA Director will work with teams to make schedules, give private classes and organize each match. Price will be determined and the league will start upon ample involvement.

Private Lessons:
The best way to learn is to take private classes. Classes can be private or semi-private meaning that you or you and a group of friends can take a class with your own personal coach. Pricing depends on the coach and length of time:

ATA Director $40 per hour
ATA Tennis Professional $35 per hour
ATA Assistant Professional $30 per hour

Hitting Partner:
If you just want to play tennis with a professional and get a few tips here and there, you can hire one of the ATA’s Assistant Professionals. Cost is $20 per hour.
