Police Investigating Fatal Incidents

The Royal Anguilla Police Force is investigating the circumstances surrounding three fatal incidents. One of the latest two occurred in The Valley in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15, when Randy Atwell, 38, of North Side, died after the green Ford Ranger (P 9293) he was driving collided in the Babrow building.

Police responded to a report at 12.51 a.m. On examining the vehicle, the traffic officers discovered that the lone person appeared to be injured. The Emergency Medical Technicians and the Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene. They extracted Carty from the vehicle and he was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

The police are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

The second fatality occurred on Monday April 14 and involved Earl Eliseus Anthony, 48, a St. Lucian worker at the Viceroy Project.

The police received a report at about 5.15 p.m. about an accident in which Anthony, using a fork lift, received injuries while offloading a container and requested the assistance of the ambulance.

Anthony, who resided at Swing High, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His body was taken to Two Sons Funeral Home to await a post mortem.

In the other incident, a 47-year-old American visitor, Timothy James Nutt, died after snorkeling in the Prickly Pear area on Thursday, April 10. He was a day trip visitor who came over from St. Maarten on the Lombardo boat with a group of visitors.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force reported that Nutt apparently got into difficulties while snorkeling. He was assisted out of the sea and brought back to Anguilla where he was pronounced dead. The post mortem report stated that death was due to drowning.
