Cap Juluca Honours 25 Original Julucans As Part Of Its 20th Anniversary Activities |

Cap Juluca hosted a gala Appreciation Awards Dinner, last Wednesday in honour of twenty five (25) Original Julucans as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations. The honourees: Albert Connor, Gwendolyn Griffith, Wayne Romney, Uton Rogers, Lidian Richardson, Rhona Richardson, Wilson Fleming Christabell Connor, Deborah Romney, Gwenda Connor, Marilyn Connor, Perlette Herbert, Caryl Maynard, Rosalyn Lewis, Dorothy Brooks, Dones Connor, Marcea Richardson-Forbes, Helene Blake, Anthony Carty, Delvin Carty, Rosemary Gumbs, Carlisle Richardson, Julienne Lake, Condon Proctor and Patricia Bryan have been working at the resort since the opening of the first three villas in 1988. Included in the 25 were seven members of staff Albert, Gwendolyn, Wayne, Uton, Lidian, Rhona and Wilson who started out at Pimms Restaurant in 1987, prior to the opening of the resort.

General Manager Hans Maissen praised the Origninal Julucans for their hard work and dedication in laying the foundation of the now world class resort. “As we celebrate the 20th year of operations it is with great pride that we pause to salute all 25 of you who are still with us today,” he said. “You are the cornerstones of Cap Juluca. Your hard work and dedication laid the foundations back in 1988 and it is your unwaivering loyalty, your professionalism and commitment to exceptional service over the past 20 years that have helped to mould this resort into the international success that is today. For that we thank you. Your tenacity and commitment during the good times and the challenging times, continue to create experiences beyond expectations for our guests who return again and again. For that we salute you.”

Cap Juluca Honourees

Director of Human Resources, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks joined Maissen in saluting all the Original Julucans and in paying tribute to the original visionaries and dreamers for their vision, passion and “Juluca Pride” that created and nurtured Cap Juluca into the Caribbean gem that it is today.

Cutting of cake

Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Victor Banks joined in thanking and congratulating the honourees and also paid tribute to their families who were also present at the awards. “Cap Juluca has sold Anguilla throughout the world,” he told the large gathering, “Without Cap Juluca Anguilla’s tourism would not be where is today. Cap Juluca and Anguilla’s success is built on the people who serve the visitors and you are those people”. Mr. Banks also expressed the hope that the issues related to the sale of the property would soon be resolved.
Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board, Mr. John Benjamin was also on hand to congratulate the honourees. Mr. Benjamin, who had worked with the original developers of Cap Juluca, told the staff that they had made Anguilla proud and wished the resort continued success.

Honourees celebrate with cake and candle

The 25 Original awardees were presented with plaques, cheques, flowers and other gifts and joined together in dancing, singing and cutting of an anniversary congratulatory cake after the dinner.
Cap Juluca employs more than 400 Anguillians has been consistently rated as among the Caribbean and the World’s best resorts.
