Optimist Club Prepares Lunch Area For Students At MVP |
| Publishing date: 01.02.2008 11:08 |
The Optimist Club of Anguilla, as part of their mandate from the international optimist organization, embarks on a quarterly community project each year. Since the inception of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School in East End, the Optimist Club has officially adopted it. Therefore, much of its philanthropic efforts go towards helping the school in any way possible. In the beginning of the adoption, the members of the OCA did some painting and tiling and have consistently helped to maintain the building.

Recently, it was brought to their attention that children were eating in the classrooms and under trees. Consequently, along with the PTA, the Optimist volunteers began to have tables and benches made so that there could be a lunch area for the children. The tables and benches were also painted and the area itself was beautified so that the children could have a pleasant environment in which to replenish their bodies for further learning. The PTA provided much of the financing for the project and this collaborative effort shows the partnership that the two organizations enjoy.
Jerome Roberts, President of the Optimist Club said, “We are delighted to see this project come to fruition, as our adopted school, and whatever we can do to assist the school we will continue to do.”
