J. Joel Harrigan, Station Manager

It was on Saturday, January 6th 2001 at 5:00 p.m. that the airwaves carried the first signals of this gospel station, and since then it has been dedicated to serving multiple-thousands with 24-hour round-the-clock radio transmission. Listeners to FM radio from as far as Montserrat, Antigua, St. Kitts, Nevis, St.Thomas, Tortola, St. Eustatius and, of course, St. Martin have positively responded to the quality of reception and the up-lifting programming of NBR.
Manager and Executive Director of the station, J. Joel Harrigan, has first and foremost expressed his gratefulness to God for blessing the facility and allowing it to thrive over the past years, amid the many growing pains that are characteristic of any successful entity. He sincerely applauded his cousin, Foster Rogers, who passionately shared with him his vision for creating the station some eight years ago. For many years, both Jerome and Foster had been employed by the Caribbean Beacon, which is owned by a California-based company.
Setting up the station was a painstaking but noble feat for these two young men. While Foster devoted his skills to the technical facets of equipment procurement and installation, Jerome concentrated on the programming aspects of the work. With much hard work and determination, the cousins were successful in establishing NBR as what has now become for many, their favorite gospel station of the North Eastern Caribbean.
By all means, Jerome and Foster wish to thank Radio Technicians Rondie Webster and Larry Stott, who have ably provided them with an appreciative degree of expertise in getting the station on the air. Rondie is still attached to the station, providing an indispensable amount of maintenance work.
Located in the area of Shoal Bay, NBR reaches out to listeners worldwide with the message of the gospel via Internet through 24-hour live streaming on NBR993.com. Jerome’s wife, Ruthlyn, is a keen and ardent supporter of her husband in the radio ministry today. She has taken over the mammoth task of marketing, daily programming, and DJ duties, while Jerome pays more attention to the managerial functions.
As a team, Jerome and Ruthlyn, along with their dedicated staff, persevere daily to produce improved programming that has the listener’s spiritual interest at heart. Morning personality, Omar Ewing, as well as daytime announcer, Suzie Hodge, play their roles with much enthusiasm, proving to be immense assets to the day-to-day functioning of the station.
While they celebrated their seventh year, the management of NBR take this opportunity to express much gratitude to renowned businessman Joseph Brice for the tangible contribution that he and his company, Intertrust Ltd, have made to the station. Mr. Brice has been gracious enough to provide NBR with three high-tech computers for the improvement of its services. Station Director, J. Joel Harrigan notes: “These computers will assist tremendously in the station’s increasing office demand as well as studio production and on air broadcasting.”
The management and staff of NBR Grace FM join to wish the general pubic a happy and healthy New Year, and welcome all to listen into wholesome, spirit-lifting and encouraging programming on 99.3 FM.
The Anguillian Newspaper joins with NBR listeners everywhere to say congratulations to this fellow media-house for seven solid years of broadcasting.
