Sunset Homes Holds Community Christmas Party

Sunset Homes, a luxury property development company in Anguilla, known for its youth and community involvement, climaxed its social and charitable activities for 2007 with a well-attended Christmas party for many invited guests at the Red Dragon Disco on Thursday, December 13.

The attendees included responsible young people from throughout the island and other persons in the community including business and tourism personnel.

The company, whose principals are Ian Edwards (Sugar George) and Janine Edwards, is well known for its various sponsorships and donations, year round, to a number of tourism initiatives, religious groups, other organisations, schools and individuals. The company recognises that the youth is the foundation of the community and that any programmes that promote healthy activities for young people help to build a stronger community.

As such, the focus of most of the company’s charitable and community work is youth and sports based.

Like all other years, 2007 has been an active year for Sunset Homes as it continued to showcase its support for community programmes. Among its activities is the ongoing sponsorship of the Roaring Lions Youth Football Tournament. In conjunction with the Roaring Lions, Sunset Homes sponsors the weekly Youth Football Training Camp for children between 5 and 13 years with 50 to 60 children in the programme.

Sunset Homes sponsors the Male League Attackers Football Team and along with the Roaring Lions Youth Football Team. The sports meets are always attractions for large and appreciative crowds and generate a high level of team spirit among the players.

Another major activity, in which Sunset Homes is keenly involved, is the Annual Fun Day for the Stoney Ground and Cauls Bottom area. It is a partnership initiative, organised by the community and sponsored by Sunset Homes. Fun Day 2007 was the fifth such event.

It provides a great atmosphere for the community to get together to see the children participating in various fun-filled sporting activities and winning educational prizes just in time for the reopening of the school.

Last week’s Christmas party was therefore a time for much celebration of the community work of Sunset Homes and the bond it enjoys with the young and older folk in Anguilla.
