The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACOCI), is to receive technical assistance from the OpX (Operational Xcellence) Group in Pensacola, Florida. ACOCI’s Executive Director, Calvin Bartlett, said that during a visit to the United States he and other officials of the business organisation met with the OpX Group which offered to undertake a free evaluation of the Chamber and to develop a five-year strategic plan for the body.
Mr. Bartlett said this was an opportune undertaking as the European Union and the OCTA (Overseas Countries and Territories Association) were assisting the Anguilla Chamber to be an intermediary for small and medium-size businesses. “This is a very important achievement for the Chamber and we are really proud to have Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cozart helping us,” Bartlett commented.
Joseph and Joanne Cozart arrived in Anguilla late last week and were met at the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal by Mr. Barlett who arranged for them to participate in the Chamber’s Christmas Fair which was held on December 8 and 9.
According to the Cozarts their objective is to get a better understanding of the business climate in Anguilla and work with Mr. Barlett to help craft a 5-year strategic plan that would enable the Chamber to increase business and productivity in Anguilla.
“We have done many strategic plans and worked with many Chambers of Commerce across the United States and internationally as well and we have been doing this for about 25 years,” Mrs Cozart stated.
Asked what the Chamber hoped to gain from the strategic plan, Mr. Bartlett said: “It will be set out in such a way that we can work with our members, the Government and the international market in particular. Now that we are positioned to help small and medium size businesses, it is important that we ourselves are organised in a way that we can help others.”
