HM Armed Forces Veterans Badge Presented To Mr. Rob Willsher


In a small private ceremony at the Governor’s Office on Wednesday 21 November 2007, his Excellency the Governor, Mr Andrew George, presented to Mr Rob Willsher of George Hill, his HM Armed Forces Veterans Badge. This is the first time in Anguilla that such a presentation has been made. Rob’s wife Julie was present at the ceremony.

Rob served in both the Royal Marines, earning the coveted Green Beret, and the British Army during his military career, gaining the rank of Sergeant. He left the Army Air Corps in 1997, having, during his time in the service, been awarded the Northern Ireland Medal, the UN Medal for service in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and also receiving a commendation from the Director of Army Aviation.

He is a keen sportsman and was a Brakeman in the two-man bobsleigh British Army Championships, and has also represented England in the European Body Building Championships.

He continues his service to the community by working as a Special Constable in the RAPF marine unit, where he puts his skills as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer to good use. He has also acted as the Police Physical Training Instructor on a voluntary basis for a number of years
