CuisinArt Brings In California Winemaker For Guests

In its continuing quest to showcase its food and beverage delights, CuisinArt Resort & Spa threw a wine dinner for many of its guests and brought in wine-maker, Gustavo Gonzalez, from the Mondavi Winery in California, to speak on and demonstrate his wine varieties.

In the November 30 reception, Gonzalez joined with Executive Chef Denise Carr to create what was described as “a superlative menu of food and wine” for the appreciative guests.

Gonzalez said Robert Mondavi, the owner of the winery, started his winery in 1966 and before that he and the rest of his family had a long history in the business. “He is 94. His sons were involved for a while and now it is up to me and the rest of the wine-making team in the development of the winery,” Gonzalez stated.

He was delighted that his wines were part of the menu in Anguilla. “It is incredible for me. It allowed me to come down to CuisinArt to meet the guests and to have this experience at this fabulous place and island,” he said. “It is part of the gracious way of life that I wanted to buy into when I started my career.”

Apart from spending quality time at the guest tables, Mr. Gonzalez visited the resort’s cellar with the Sommelier, Garmon Greenaway, who has sole responsibility for all the wines. Greenway said that there were 4,000 bottles of wine with over 600 selections. The oldest wines in stock date back to 1982 and the most expensive wine which comes from France costs $4,000 per bottle.
