On Friday, November 16, Digicel unveiled its plans for Christmas 2007 at their store in The Valley. Among the key announcements made by Country Manager, Stephenie Brooks, was Digicel’s continuing support of its adopted charities in Anguilla. These include the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens’ Home and the company’s commitment to assist local NGOs in their fight against AIDS and to raise overall awareness.

Ms Brooks stated: “These entities provide an invaluable service to the community with very little support, yet they carry on and make life easier for the less fortunate among us. Their deeds have not gone unnoticed and Digicel would like to reward the people who do such notable work in these organisations this Christmas.”
Outlining what her company will be doing to support the entities, she continued: “We would like to make this a truly special time of the year in which every Anguillian with a Digicel phone can participate. So from December 1-31, we will launch a special charity text to win promotion. With this promotion, for every text message a member of the public makes to the charity at 50 cents per text, Digicel will make an equivalent donation – that is – if a customer sends one text at 50 cents, Digicel will pay double the donation so that the charity gets one dollar.”
The mobile company also announced details of its special Christmas promotion which, this year, has two parts to the offer.
One is the Top-Up Promotion Offer. Customers who top up their prepaid phones by $25 or more and post-paid customers who zero their balance will have a chance to win thousands of instant prizes. These include MP4 players, Radio Back Packs and Radio Boom Boxes. They will also get entry into a grand prize draw in January to win a Dream Living Room set comprising a 42-inch Plasma Television, Stereo Surround System, an Xbox 360 System and a Sofa Set.
The second offer is in the Handset Promotion. Customers who between now and December 31 purchase these handsets will receive $60 free credit which will be distributed as follows: $35 credit will be given immediately on purchase. The balance will be credited to the customer’s account during the two consecutive months.
“This promotion is by far the best campaign for the year particularly as it relates to providing $60 free credit with every handset purchased from Digicel this Christmas,” commented Ms Brooks, “For Digicel, it is about giving back more to the customers who have supported us all year, and so we invite you to visit Digicel’s Stores in Anguilla for more information.”
