The Congress was among various activities which took place there as part of the CTO Conference during the period October 21-24.

Alexander and the students, who were selected to represent their islands, were given the title of Junior Minister/Commissioner of Tourism.

The winners of the 2007 Tourism Youth Congress were Emerald Williams of St. Kitts who placed first; Myfanwy Leggatt of the Cayman Islands who came second; and Rashad Rolle of The Bahamas who was third.

The 2006 Junior Tourism Minister for Anguilla was Nashara Webster who placed second in the competition.
The Tourism Youth Congress is now in its 7th year. It showcases the talent of the Caribbean’s young people and exposes them to the excitement and dynamism of a tourism career.

It has been described as a life-changing programme which “has sparked the dreams and ambitions of the region’s top students, while reinforcing the positive role of tourism in the growth and development of the Caribbean.”
