Anguilla junior athletes distinguished themselves well in the 2007 St. Martins Day Road Relay on Sunday 11th November. A record number of 45 teams lined up for the 20th running of this annual event which started at 7:00 am sharp from the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex through to the French side ending back at the complex for a distance of just over 20 miles.

Anguilla easily captured the Juniors Category (i.e. under 14 years of age) in a time of 2 hours and 24 minutes beating their closest rival by 15 minutes.

Anguilla’s team despite not having their strongest athletes due to a number of them being engaged in the Football competitions placed 7th overall, for which they received a special award for being the most outstanding team.

The full team reads: Jonicia Richardson, Julesha Connor, Nicole Gumbs, Kasem Thompson, Rovendel Glasgow, Candace Facey, Eldon Gumbs, Carlton Gumbs, Jadel Carty and Shawnae Hazell

Meanwhile Anguilla has been invited to participate in the 2007 Interscholastic Track & Field Competition on Saturday 17th November to be held at the Raoul Illidge Road Complex at 10:00 am.
