Chief Minister Fleming and Remington Lake
|
Mr. Fleming, who had a successful kidney transplant operation over a year ago, returned to work last week, looking in radiant health.
One of the persons who said he was glad to see Mr. Fleming back is Remington Lake (Bummy). They were at the retirement party held by the Caribbean Commercial Bank on November 1 at Paradise Cove Resort for former Senior Manager, Leslie Richardson. Mr. Fleming was there in his capacity as Chairman of CCB’s Board of Directors.
They both spoke briefly to the media.
“I welcome our Chief Minister. You know he is my personal friend,” said Mr. Lake, as he embraced Mr. Fleming. “He can tell you that during his vacation and his medical check-up I called him almost every day. He was in Miami and I was in New Jersey and Indiana and I called him to make sure he was all-right.”
Mr. Fleming replied: “We’ve been friends and lived together for many years and even up to now he is registered out of my house to vote in elections. But he has to find somewhere else to register next time.”
“No, that’s not so,” Bummy retorted. “The Chief Minister of Anguilla must run for election again. He must run. The Chief Minister has not expired his time as yet. The Chief Minister has a lot to contribute to this country. And I say that as his personal friend. He cannot go home unless his health deteriorates to such a position where he has to go. As long as he is healthy, he must stay at the helm.”
“Wait and see, but I am ready to go home,” Mr. Fleming responded.
He is not going anywhere. You can put in the record that I said so, Bummy emphatically ended the conversation.
