POLICE REPORT DECREASE IN BURGLARIES Fruitless Search For Wanted Man

There has been a decrease in the number of burglaries and thefts which had been plaguing business places and individuals in Anguilla for several weeks.

At their weekly press briefing on Wednesday, October 31, it was reported that there was only one case of burglary which occurred in Stoney Ground. In that matter, a gold necklace and a gold pendant were stolen from a dwelling house.

Three thefts were reported to the police. The offences were committed in the villages of Roaches Hill and Cauls Bottom. The items stolen were a telephone, a bicycle and clothing.
In other matters, Melissa Brooks-Reid of George Hill was sentenced to one year in prison for theft.

Ronreaco Rogers of Cauls Bottom was sentenced to nine months imprisonment for criminal trespass/burglaries.

During the week, the police stepped up their search for Devon Otto who is wanted for questioning in relation to murder. The Task Force and the Criminal Investigation Department along with other supporting officers conducted house searches and also searched places on the eastern side of the island.

Road Blocks operations were also carried out in that vicinity where vehicles were stopped and searched, but without sight of the Kitts national.

The police responded to various reports from persons who claimed to have seen Otto, but it was found that the person they thought had been him was someone else slightly resembling him.

The police have expressed thanks to many persons who called and gave information about their apparent sight of Otto.

Members of the public are urged to be on the lookout for Otto and to report to the police about any person they believe to be the wanted man.
