It is the first time since the inception of Radio Anguilla, 38 years ago, by the British Government (and later further developed and administered by the Anguilla Government), that a female Director has been appointed to head the National Information and Broadcasting Service.
Miss Bank’s appointment took effect on October 13. She began working in 1994 as an Announcer shortly after graduating from the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.
Since then, and after training, she has held the posts of Acting Information Officer, Programme Manager and most recently, Acting Director.
Miss Banks holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from Ithaca College, New York, and a Diploma in Mass Communications from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.
Her other achievements include a second place position in a Caribbean Institute of Media and Communications Competition for the production of a Public Service Announcement in 1998 and a Certificate of Merit for a one-month Radio Production Course at CARIMAC in 1995.
In extra curriculum activities she is a strong athlete and theatre lover and was the recipient of the Artiste of the Year Award from the Sunshine Theatre Company in 1998.
Farrah replaces former Director, Kenneth Hodge, who has been promoted to Principal Assistant Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office following the retirement of Mrs. Evalie Bradley.
She is the daughter of E. Valentine Banks and Valerie Banks-Hunte
The Anguillian joins in congratulating Farrah on her well-deserved appointment.
