Viceroy Operational Staff involved in upgrading of Day Care Centre
|
Led by General Manager for Viceroy Resorts & Residencies, Jan B. Tibaldi, his top working personnel thoroughly cleaned, refurbished and painted the day care centre. It is a place that is making an important contribution in the Long Bay/West End community where many local and expatriate persons working in the island’s tourism belt need a nearby facility to care for their infants.
The Viceroy officials were able to remove a quantity of unwanted storage items thus creating more space for the children to sleep, play and eat. They provided new cupboards for stores, an array of toys, a stand for the television set and made a considerable amount of improvement to the kitchen and bathroom areas. The result has been both pleasing and comfortable.
Mr. Tibaldi said it was a great pleasure for Viceroy to assist the day care centre in this manner where the operator, Mrs. Barbara Simpson, is doing a fantastic job.

Mrs. Simpson and children
|
Mrs. Simpson started the day care centre in January 1997. She said she was inspired by having cared for her mother in her final years and by her own love and passion for children and the need for a caring facility in the fast-developing Long Bay/West End area. She was granted permission by the Government of Anguilla, which owns the building housing the health clinic, to operate the southern annex as a day care centre.
So far over 100 children have passed through the centre and the caring hands of the very pleasant and hospitable Mrs. Simpson. Some of those children are now attending the nearby Alwyn Allison Primary School and were among those who came to the centre for The Anguillian’s photograph. There are about 20 children now being looked after there.
Mrs. Simpson has expressed gratitude to the Viceroy officials for their much thoughtful and appreciative assistance.
The KOR Group involved with Viceroy has provided one million US dollars for the completion of the Alwyn Allison School, now in progress and has undertaken to provide a similar amount for the planned new Island Harbour Primary School. In addition the company has joined Government in purchasing a number of school buses which are now in service.
