New Recruits For Anguilla Coming on Weekend

Thirteen recruits for the Royal Anguilla Police Force who have completed their initial course at the Regional Police Training Centre at Seawell, Barbados, will be arriving on the island on Saturday, October 13.

They were among a number of other trainees who were in the passing out parade attended by various police officials from the region. Anguilla was represented by Superintendent Carl Ruan.

The new police constables comprise six each from Dominica and Grenada and one from Anguilla. They will be undergoing a period of familiarisation on the island before being sent on beat duty. In that regard they will be visiting various Government departments and offices over the next two weeks.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Illidge Richardson, said the additional members of the Force would enable a better deployment of personnel on patrol in the communities. Their recruitment has brought the establishment of the Force to just below 100.

Mr. Richardson added, however, that even that number is not enough manpower for the Force taking into account the increased need for policing Anguilla.
