The Anguillian recently visited the Temenos Golf Course to inquire about preparations being made for the up and coming tourist season. In speaking with the staff of Troon Golf, led by PGA Professional Dana Schmid (Director of Golf) and PGA Professional Hale Kelley as the Head Golf Pro, it is evident that guest services are being enhanced in every category. The most important addition to this season will be the new golf range.

This will add a vital element to the programme as it is one of the principal ways to learn, teach and practice the game. Bernie Morgan, assistant golf pro, mentioned that as Temenos and Troon Golf have such high standards, they decided to make the golf range identical to the landscape of the course itself. Although in essence it is not necessary, as people won’t actually play on the range, it still maintains an aesthetic quality that is not rivalled by many.

New Golf Range will enhance teaching capabilities

At the moment, only nine holes are open for play, but the course will fully open on November 1. During the entire month of November, the Anguilla Junior Golf Programme will kick off. The classes will be conducted every Saturday during the month from 8:30-10:30 am. It is open for children eight years and older for a fee of USD $65. All equipment will be provided as well as drinks. Mr. Morgan has been working with the children’s programme and had these words to say: “We are striving to help any child and nurture any type of talent. It is very important to us (Troon Golf Staff) to work with the juniors and we hope to develop some serious talent over the next few years.”
