Banks, Hughes Attend Compton's Funeral


The Anguilla Government followed up an earlier message expressing condolences over the passing of St. Lucia’s former Prime Minister, the late Sir John George Melvin Compton, by dispatching two representatives to his funeral.

The Elected Representatives, Minister of Finance, Economic Development, Commerce, Investment and Tourism, Victor Banks, and former Chief Minister, now Opposition Member, Hubert Hughes, left Anguilla on Monday, September 17, for St. Lucia. The Anguilla Government also sent a wreath for the funeral.

The State Funeral was held on Tuesday, September 18, at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Castries. The body of Sir John Compton lay in state for some time in the St. Lucia House of Parliament.
