Main organiser Maricia Romney said the first day was windy due to the passage of Hurricane Dean and that the events were not what they should have been, but the second day was really nice with all the children fully participating in all the activities which went off smoothly.

She expressed the view, however, that while the function called “Ricia’s Summer Fest 2007’ was generally successful there was a need for more children to be involved. She is hoping to continue the event and is grateful to all the sponsors who willingly came forward with their support.
The sporting activities included bingo, lucky dip, play express card games, basketball, bowling alley, throwing the ball and darts. The event was held under the theme “Playing is Fun – Education is Fundamental.”

One of the new coming activities to be held by Ricia’s Summer Fest will be a schools’ competition and the award of a computer to assist in the ongoing drive by the Education Department to provide computers in the classrooms.
