Byron Lee & The Dragonaires Perform for Anguilla Summer Festival 2007

With over forty years of experience and over 150 awards Byron Lee & the Dragonaires (BL&D) continues to command respect and admiration world-wide. A band that has worked hard to forge a Caribbean blend of music with its mix of reggae, soca, flavour of ska, rockstaedy and rock and roll, BL&D has become a household name in the West Indian communities around the world with their international success rivaling many major bands. Since his debut single “Dumplins” in 1960, Byron Lee has grown a successful, enduring career and has become an entertainment legend.

Today the band continues to tour extensively, performing in an average of 36 cities each year. To have lasted over four decades is a significant achievement for any band. However, with a foundation built on professionalism, talent, discipline, commitment and vigor it is no surprise that the Dragonaires have continue to be one of most sought after bands from the West Indies.

Byron Lee was one of the first who understood that music is a business and from his group he demanded respect and discipline- which he got. He in turn tried to give to the crowd that followed him a slick-looking band that would take minimum breaks play good music and ensure that patrons got their monies worth.

On Friday July 27th the Capital Dreams Social Club invites all as it contributes to this year’s Summer Festival by hosting this prestigious band. The Club will use funds raised from this event to treat Senior Citizens from across the island, on August 10th 2007, for the Grand Parade of Troupes. Patrons can expect a full repertoire of hits such as “Tiny Winey”, “Tremble It”, “Pump you Up” and many more from this legendary group.

The show is being sponsored by Digicel, Lake’s World, and Blues & Blues and supported by the Anguilla Carnival Committee and the Government of Anguilla.

So to all… come on out to ‘wine’ to your favorite!!
