Started in 1999 by Stanya Peacock along with her Anguillian friend Charmaine Berry-Andrews, (under the company Bohemia Inc.) the business provides decorating work in soft furnishings. That is, the focus is on custom made cushions, pillows, slipcovers, shades etc. This for both interior and exterior placements.

While Charmaine deals with office matters and marketing, Stanya looks after design and “manufacturing”.

The fact that the business makes extensive use of ‘densified fibre’ for the core of exterior products, sets it apart from others. Densified fibre is mildew and rot resistant, making it ideal for outdoor cushions. Combined with all-weather fabrics such as “Sunbrella” it becomes a winning combination. A limited supply of Sunbrella is carried in stock at all times.

The quality in design, production, finishing and choice of materials means a long lasting product that can better withstand island and resort life.

Whether indoor or out, hotels, villas and restaurants have all made good use of the company’s services. And of course, the personal home/villa/house has felt the touches of Peacock Design. The company’s products are found not just in Anguilla but in holiday properties as far south as Nevis!

On the truly decorative side, ‘fibre arts’ comes into play.

Stanya has approximately thirty years of experience based on European techniques and disciplines but also with further courses from George Brown College in Toronto and the Bernina Sewing College. Basic training began in her native Czechoslovakia from which she escaped to Canada when the Russians entered in 1968. Since then it has been a continual growth of knowledge while always maintaining the European quality.

When time has permitted, Stanya has provided formal sewing classes in conjunction with one of the Anguilla sewing supply shops and the Anguilla craft centre.
