ATA's 2007 Summer Camp |
| Publishing date: 29.06.2007 08:09 |
This year’s ATA summer tennis camp will have a distinctly different feel from all preceding years. Firstly, the entire three weeks of camp will be at the same location, at the brand new state of the art facility in Blowing Point. Secondly, a new mentoring initiative has been put in place whereby players in the older “tournament” group will act as assistant coaches for the younger kids. Equally, by having all the kids at one location, it means we can keep our entire staff of coaches from all over the world at one place, where their eclectic teaching knowledge and experience can be shared amongst their peers, allowing an atmosphere of tennis excellence to prevail in a way which has been impossible up until this point.

The morning session will see 5-7 year old playing from 8:30 till 9:45am, with kids 8 years up to 17 coming in from 10:00 – 11:30am. With 6 courts, and countless coaches to work with, children will be separated onto courts by their age and ability level, ensuring that no one feels out of their depth, and equally, making sure everyone is pushed at a level that will both test their skills, and ensure they’re having a great time.
A check-in booth, located at the entrance of the new facility, will ensure that every child knows where they are to go and with which coach they will be working. This booth will also act as a check-point for shoes, as only non-marking white soled shoes will be permitted so not to mark the brand new championship courts. Another great addition to the camp is an afternoon session. With numbers of children in the summer camp each year increasing at a rapid rate, as well as the exponential growth of the ATA After-School Programme, this year the ATA had no choice but to expand its camp to encompass a second session to be able to incorporate numbers expected to be reaching over 250 children. The afternoon sessions will run from 4:00-6:00pm for those between the ages of 10-17, who have attended this year’s after school programme.

Weekly tournaments and award ceremonies will be held every Friday, giving every child an opportunity to put to use, the skills and techniques they have learned during the week. This, on top of continuous opportunities to collect “Star Points” throughout the week for an array of great prizes, will ensure that no child will leave this year’s camp without a prize, as well as fantastic memories of a great experience, new friends, and new-found tennis skills.
To register, stop by ABC Supplies and fill out a registration form. Space is limited and if children sign up before July 1, there is a USD $20 discount for a total of $40 for the entire three weeks.
