Bishop Brooks, Two Others Honoured


The Rt. Reverend Errol Brooks, the first Anguillian to hold the top post of Bishop of the Diocese of the North-eastern Caribbean and Aruba, was one of three persons honoured at the Anguilla Progressive Association of New York (APANY) Annual Dinner Gala on June 2.

West Indies and Ineke Williams of St. Maarten, who was the donor of a kidney to Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming.

Among those at the large gathering were Chief Minister Fleming, Minister of Finance, Victor Banks and Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board, John Benjamin.

The event included appearances by last year’s Calypso Monarch Queen B (Rebecca Webster), Miss Anguilla (Amber Woodley) and Tiffany Richardson (granddaughter of well known stage personality Daisy (Wong) Richardson. The Master of Ceremonies was Mello Cello of Heart Beat Radio.

APANY is a non-profit organisation with over 400 members in New York. It serves as a resource network for education, youth and their families, senior citizens, health, economic empowerment and socio-cultural issues affecting Anguillians at home and abroad. For many years it has provided assistance to various charitable causes in Anguilla.

APANY’s President is Carlson Connor-Lloyd who returns quite frequently to Anguilla from New York.
